Carl Johansen

(Viola) With decades of experience as a professional musician, this accomplished violist and violinist brings both technical mastery and deep musical passion to the classroom and stage. A member of the Utah Symphony, he has won multiple prestigious auditions using the Bartók concerto and has a particular love for the sweeping works of Mahler, Bruckner, Tchaikovsky, and Strauss. Known for emphasizing persistence, disciplined practice, and self-evaluation, he encourages young musicians to regularly record themselves to accelerate growth. Outside of music, he enjoys paragliding across Utah’s mountains and exploring Peruvian cuisine with his family.
